Panel hears testimony on Runestad bill providing tax credit for food donations

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Runestad, R-White Lake, listens to testimony before the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday on his bill providing a tax credit for some food donations.

Senate Bill 55 would restore the income tax credit for donations made to food banks, homeless shelters and community foundations that was eliminated in 2011.

The Senate Finance Committee is expected to vote on the bills after hearing further testimony in the coming weeks.
