LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Runestad volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Hartland Friday to help prepare and load meals for delivery.
“The hardworking folks at Meals on Wheels graciously allowed me to join them to offer nutritious food to seniors in the area,” said Runestad, R-White Lake. “I applaud their tireless efforts to consistently assist senior citizens and vulnerable residents in this great time of need.”
The Livingston County Senior Nutrition Program Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit organization that offers a nutrition service for senior adults over the age of 60.
Five days a week, the organization delivers to the homebound seniors of Livingston County and to several senior centers well-balanced, hot meals that meet one-third of a person’s daily nutrition requirements.
“I am so thankful that organizations like Meals on Wheels exist to help,” Runestad said. “They understand that to thrive as a community, we must take care of the most vulnerable among us.”
