LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Runestad has announced that his coffee hours scheduled for Friday, March 27 have been canceled.
As of Tuesday, March 17, Michigan has 54 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
“Based upon the recommendations of state and national health officials, we have decided to cancel upcoming coffee hours out of an abundance of caution,” said Runestad, R-White Lake. “It is important to me to meet with constituents in person whenever possible, but it is more important that we act in the best interests of everyone’s health and safety.
“My staff and I will continue to be available online and by telephone at 1-855-347-8015 to serve our constituents. Canceling in-person meetings while still maintaining access is the wise course of action.”
Runestad’s canceled coffee hours on March 27 include 10 – 11 a.m. at the White Lake Township Library and noon – 1 p.m. at Bakers of Milford Restaurant in Milford Township.
Runestad represents the 15th Senate District in Oakland County, which includes the cities of Northville, Novi, Orchard Lake, South Lyon, Walled Lake and Wixom, as well as Commerce Lyon, Milford, Novi, West Bloomfield, and White Lake townships.
