LANSING, Mich. — In response to Saturday’s news of the death of L. Brooks Patterson, state Sen. Jim Runestad, R-White Lake, issued the following statement:
“I had the great pleasure of knowing Brooks well for several years. To many, he was a larger than life figure, transforming Oakland County into what it is today. But for me, and everyone else who knew him personally, he was even more — he was a mentor, a confidant, and a dear friend.
“Oakland County will never be the same thanks to his leadership and his vision for our community. His passing marks a sad day in our state, but we know that his impact will live on for generations to come. My thoughts are with the Patterson family during this difficult time as they deal with this tremendous loss.”
