LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Runestad reacted Thursday to news that the U.S. Department of Education has named Amerman Elementary School in Northville a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School.
“Only the highest-achieving schools are given the Blue Ribbon School designation,” said Runestad, R-White Lake. “The teachers, staff and parents at Amerman Elementary should be extremely proud of their achievements. Congratulations for this high honor!”
According to the department, the Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and nonpublic elementary, middle and high schools where students achieve very high learning standards.
Amerman Elementary School was one of 13 schools in Michigan to receive the honor. The schools were recognized for being among the state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. Student subgroup performance and high school graduation rates are also at the highest levels.
