LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Runestad announced Tuesday that next month he will be hosting a community town hall on preventing elder abuse.
Runestad will be joined by Attorney General Dana Nessel at the town hall on Sept. 30 at the Novi Public Library at 45255 W. 10 Mile Road in Novi.
“We cannot tolerate the abuse of senior citizens. I’ve arranged this town hall to provide an update on what the Legislature is doing to crack down on this crime,” said Runestad, R-White Lake. “The attorney general will also outline the steps that her department’s Elder Abuse Task Force is taking to help protect seniors in Michigan.”
Runestad said doors will open at 9:30 a.m., followed by the main program from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
“Come prepared to share your thoughts and concerns for what we can do to cut down on elder abuse,” he said. “Local elder care resource providers will also be on site to help answer your questions.”
Runestad said informational resources and booklets will be available at no cost to attendees.
