Runestad tops list of most conservative state senators

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Runestad on Friday announced he was named one of the most conservative members of the Michigan Senate by the American Conservative Union Foundation.

“When I was elected to office, I pledged to bring my conservative values to Lansing and help build a better future for our state,” said Runestad, R-White Lake. “I have routinely voted to keep spending low, limit government overreach, use taxpayer dollars responsibly, and hold our government accountable. I will continue to defend these principles in the state Capitol and fighting to protect the rights of all Michiganders.”

Runestad received an 88% conservative rating for his votes taken during the 2020 session of the Michigan Legislature.

The American Conservative Union Foundation rated all members of the Michigan Legislature based on votes taken. The legislators with the highest scores voted most consistently with the U.S. Constitution by making government limited and transparent, protecting individual rights, ensuring personal responsibility, and promoting a healthy culture.

“I am proud my voting record reflects not only the values our country was founded on but was also recognized by one of the leading conservative organizations in America.” Runestad said.
